Tennessee Sets Milestone by Opening Boys Public School

The Influence1 Foundation, parent division of the Memphis charter school City University School of Liberal Arts, is pleased to announce the opening of City University School Boys Preparatory (City University Boys Prep), Tennessee’s first public charter middle school for boys.

City University Boys Prep will welcome 120 incoming sixth graders this fall for the 2009-2010 academic year and will grow to 360 scholars over the next few years. “Incremental growth is critical to the implementation of a successful program built to offer better educational opportunities for boys,” stated Felicia P. Hartsfield, Chief Operating Officer of The Influence1 Foundation.

City University Boys Prep opening coincides with another similar milestone in Tennessee public education. This fall, Hamilton County School District will welcome Tennessee’s first public all girls school, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy.

Admission applications for City University Boys Prep are currently available online at www.cityuniversityschool.org. Applications can also be completed onsite at City University School of Liberal Arts located at 1500 Dunn Avenue or at The Influence1 Foundation at 665 Madison Avenue.
